The Edwards Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Alberta Children’s Hospital provides world class care for the smallest babies, some too fragile to breathe on their own.
This year, your ticket purchase will help these babies and their families breathe easier by providing critical care specialists with state-of-the-art neonatal ventilators. These devices play a critical role in supporting the respiratory health and survival of premature babies.
You can give southern Alberta’s most vulnerable babies – some weighing less than a pound – the best chance at a healthy childhood simply by purchasing a lottery ticket.
Baby Cedric needed a team of experts to help him reach his first birthday. Born three months premature, Cedric weighed just over two pounds. His lungs were only the size of walnuts—Cedric needed a ventilator to breathe until his lungs grew strong enough on their own. For 70 days, baby Cedric called the Alberta Children’s Hospital home. He relied on the specialized critical care experts in the Edwards Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to keep a careful eye on his tiny lungs and manage a dangerous build-up of fluid in his brain called hydrocephalus.
World-class specialized care and state-of-the-art equipment gave Cedric his best chance at survival. Today, he’s absolutely thriving at home as a strong and busy toddler.
